Cadeira 3D ao som de música

Developed in 2012 by estudio guto requena in partnership with galeria coletivo amor de madre, the ‘nóize chairs’ were originally conceived as three dimensional digital models of seating produced by brazilian designers. by mixing recorded sounds that were captured by cellphones on the streets of são paulo, with the original CAD design files, distorted versions of the chairs took shape. the ‘giraffe chair’ by lina bo bardi, marcelo ferraz and marcelo suzuki is synthesized with the sounds of rua santa iphigenia, and the ‘oscar chair’ mixed with noise from the grajaú neighborhood emerge as physical 3D prints.

For Sao Paulo design week SPDW 2013, estudio guto requena collaborated with META-D to adapt the design process of the ‘nóize chair’ (which designboom first covered here) as a real-time interactive experience. visitors were invited to witness the seating pieces being shaped and transformed on a computer by the selected sounds and poetry picked from the gallery environment. every day, a ‘metamáquina 2′ 3D printer produced miniature model chairs from these hybrid files, each one unique.
